Happy Fall Photo Shoot...

We attempted a fall photo shoot this weekend with the boys. I didn't get any "good" pictures -- not one of them both looking at the camera and not even a hint of a smile from Cade -- But they're ALWAYS cute and I had to share a few of my favorites!

Cade looking cute & a little aggravated:

He was more interested in how the leaves tasted!

Shake, Rattle & ROLL!

I know a lot of you were rooting for Cade when I posted his "attempt" to roll over... well he has been rolling from back to tummy now for a few weeks. I was finally able to catch him on video, so thought I'd share!

A conversation with Cade...

You'll hear lots of Cade sounds on this video! Squealing, arguing, and yes, coughing. I shot this right before Cade got his cold - poor baby!

Little Cookie Monster...

We let Cade try his first cookie today!!! I think it's safe to say that he LOVED it! He actaully ended up throwing the 1st one in the floor (he throws everything in the floor now) and when I wouldn't give it back, he cried! He would suck on it and then chew on it... it was so cute. I think it felt good on his gums & seemed pretty tasty!

Happy Friday!

My baby boy is feeling so much better today. He has been having a tough time going to sleep at night, but that's the worst of it. He seemed uncomfortable last night & I suspect that his ears are still hurting a little.

I put a new "ShoutBox" underneath my twitter updates... It seems easier to use... so please let me know what you think about the blog! Leave me a comment!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will leave you with these pics that I took of Cade this week... he is just so cute, my little sweetie!!! :)

Cade update...

Cade seems to be feeling better this morning. He was smiling & kicking his little legs when we got him up. MUCH better compared with yesterday morning. Yesterday was just miserable for him. I'm glad I took him to the doctor on Monday because he was so much worse when he got up yesterday. Hopefully we're on the upswing though. I hate seeing my little man feel sick, and when all he does is lay around & stare off into space, I know he's not feeling well!

My sick baby...

I took Cade to the doctor today. He has a little cough and has been tugging on his ears. Could have just been teething but it seems like he's been sick for 2 weeks now & we thought it was best to take him. His lungs sounded good, so no problem there, but his left ear was a little red inside & looked like the beginning of an ear infection. So good news, we caught it early. Bad news, Cade has to take antibiotics for 10 days. He tried so hard to feel good, he wants to play and is still so sweet, but he is obviously not feeling well. I hope this will take care of his ear ache.

Oh yeah, the best part... Cade is 17 pounds and 8.5 ounces! My big man!!! :)

The smartest baby ever!

I'm sure that every parent in the world thinks that their baby is the smartest baby ever... right?!?! Well, I am COMPLETELY SURE that Cade is MOST DEFINITELY on the top of that list! :) We have been signing to him, to get him used to signs for basic necessities... like eat & milk... but is it possible that he is already able to sign himself?

I went to the gym today and after I left, Cade TOLD Derek that he was hungry! He made the sign! Okay, so I didn't see it myself, but I do know that Cade can make his lips smack when he's hungry & wants food... I ask him if he wants to eat (while doing the ASL sign) and smack my lips... he smacks his lips back and gets all bouncy & excited. I guess it's kind of a sign that we made up. So when I got home today, Derek said that he was doing the actual sign, not just smacking his lips. And evidently he WAS hungry because he gobbled his dinner up!

I am just excited that he is catching on... I often wonder what he's thinking about and just imagine his little sponge of a brain absorbing everything he sees & hears.

He has just recently decided that Brodie (our house cat) is the funniest thing he's ever seen! He will sit and watch that cat for ever! And laughs! The strangest thing about it is that Brodie doesn't seem to mind Cade too much either. Brodie is VERY funny about people. I am just about the only person that can hold him... he will let Derek pet him but that's about it. I was worried in the beginning but so far he's been really gentle with Cade... almost acts like a guard cat. He doesn't leave his side for most of the day, and when Cade cries, Brodie comes running to me, like I don't hear him. LOL

It's almost 11:30... I'd better get into bed. I think there's this unwritten rule, that the later mommy stays up, the earlier baby wakes up! Never fails, I stay up late to watch a movie & Cade will get up 3 hours early. Very strange.

I'll sign off with this picture... and yes, I know I cut off my head... YOU try taking a picture of yourself with a squirmy 6 month old baby boy! :)

6 months... half a year...

Photobucket

Cade is 6 months old today. It is hard for me to believe that half a year has already gone by. Where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday, I was wallering in our black leather recliner, huge & uncomfortable, with my 2 regular pillows, one body pillow and heating pad... and don't forget the quilt, since I seemed to freeze during my pregnancy. And then we were off to the hospital and no more than 4 hours later, these people dropped a bundle into my lap, expecting that I knew exactly what to do with him. We have come a long way in 6 short months! As a mom, I have learned to trust my instincts... I have learned that I'm not perfect, and quite frankly, being perfect is impossible... and most importantly, I have learned *most* of the words to every lullaby imaginable. Cade too has come a long way. He has more than tripled his weight since we brought him home from the hospital. He has gone from needy newborn to a baby that thrives on a schedule. And he has gone from waking every 3 hours during the night to sleeping 12 hours straight (well, most nights... we won't count last night!) He loves eating with a spoon -- we are eating Stage 2 foods right now, 3 times a day! He is sitting with some assistance, rolling in both directions and his hand coordination has really improved.

Happy 6 months Cade Lucas! Mommy & daddy love you so much, and we love watching you grow & change right before our eyes... you are so sweet and so smart.

When we went to Walmart yesterday, Cade picked out his "6 months present" :) He got a Mickey Mouse beanie! I held him up for Cade to see and he grinned & kicked and got excited -- he LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Playhouse Disney... I thought it was funny, he seemed to "recognize" Mickey. Here he is with his new friend!

Happy Grandparent's Day

Cade says that he's sorry that he didn't do anything special for Grandparent's Day today. He hopes that you understand that he's been sick this weekend and it slipped his mind. Instead, he wanted to put up a "tribute" to his grandparents on his blog... he hopes that this will make up for it. :)

Love you Grandmomma & Papaw!

Cade's 1st cold...

Cade has had a cold since Thursday and let me tell you, it is NO FUN! No fun for anybody! This is his first cold and it has probably been harder on mommy than on him. He is so stuffy and congested, yet he smiles & laughs and you can just tell that he WANTS to feel good and WANTS to play. It kills me to see him so uncomfortable, uneasy and unable to breathe. He is not sleeping well and isn't eating well. Today has been a little better though, and I'm sure that every day will be. He is a tough little man.

The problem with rolling over...

Well, we're really rolling now (that was a tongue twister!) Cade is rolling. He's slow but he does it. The thing is, he rolls over at night, in his crib -- he's a little better at going from back to tummy -- this creates a problem. He will only sleep on his tummy for so long and then he CRIES and mommy has to go roll him back over. Sooo... we are hoping that he will eventually get better at rolling from tummy to back. But for now, we're just excited to see him a little mobile :)

Just thought I'd share :)
