Update in Pictures

We had a great Thanksgiving! Cade had his first taste of REAL turkey! Mom chopped it up really fine & he did great with it! He's starting to do better with table foods - doesn't gag as often, LOL. He has actually been eating Vanilla "Nilla" Wafers for a week or so... he will bite off a piece & chew it up, no problem!

Here he is with daddy. Not sure if he was going in for a bite or a kiss. :) Either way, it was too cute!

I think he just realized that he got caught!

Brady & Cade playing together... well, sorta. They are having some trouble figuring each other out. They area already starting to fight over toys. It's so funny.

We put up the Christmas tree this week. Cade's first :)

Letting him touch it... which he quickly found out that he did NOT like how prickly the tree was. Maybe that will keep him OUT of it!
Photobucket

Cade's newest thing... standing. I don't think my son is going to crawl. He is going to go straight to walking. That's okay though. Who needs to crawl?

And last... my favorite... just love those cheeks :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a great time with friends & family this holiday and make sure to eat LOTS! Cade has already started practicing, he's been eating "Turkey & Sweet Potatoes" -- baby food of course -- He deserves a turkey dinner too!

Love & hugs to you all! And baby slobbers from Cade :)

*cough* An Update! *cough*

I know, I know, it's been FOR EVER since I've updated the blog. Truth is, we've just been sick. Cade woke up last Wednesday with a cold, stuffy runny nose and I caught it. Now we're both sneezing & coughing, though I think we're both getting better. He seems a little better every day. He had been having trouble drinking any milk what so ever... we tried everything... out of a bottle, out of a cup, sippy cup, water bottle... he was just too congested to drink. So this morning he finally took a 6 ounce bottle, all at one time, without having to come up for air... so YAY Cade! I'm just hoping & praying that he doesn't get bad enough to have to go to the doctor. Please, no ear infections!!! The last time he was on antibiotics, it really messed with his little system.

Other than being sick, we're just looking forward to Thanksgiving... and Christmas! I've started putting up Christmas decorations... all except my tree... my stand has gone missing. But hopefully it's just conveniently misplaced at mom & dad's.

Time to go... Cade is hollering mom, mom, mom! (I love it!)

I'll post some new pics when I get a chance ;)

Teething BITES!!!

I was REALLY hoping that after the first tooth cut, it would be smooth sailing. Not the case. Poor little guy is miserable as ever & I'm pretty sure it's all thanks to that 2nd bottom tooth that is going to pop through any day (fingers crossed!)

Miserable or not, he'll always smile for the camera!
Photobucket

He is "trying" to show you his new tooth... it's just not hardly high enough above the gum line to see with the naked eye.
Photobucket

Enjoying a COLD teething ring... good stuff.
Photobucket

Maybe it would fit better if I held it up like this?
Photobucket

What is this thing anyway?
Photobucket

Sure feels nice!
Photobucket

Okay, so teething really does bite, but we still have fun... Cade is still playing up a storm & learning new things every day. His newest discovery is the coffee table. He thinks he's doing something really big if he scoots/rolls underneath it.
Photobucket

How rotten does he look here!?!?
Photobucket

And finally, a shot with daddy... right before bedtime.
Gotta love the mohawk!

Happy 8 Months Cade Lucas!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

(how cute is that???)

It seems like every month, every milestone, every minute of the day is just passing by too quickly. I can't believe Cade is 8 MONTHS OLD! To celebrate, I wanted to share some of his photos from a few weeks ago.

These were taken by Leslie Boyer in Louisa, KY.

Little Einsteins to the Rescue!

If you've been "keeping up with Cade" at all, you know that we've been having a terrible time with him riding in the car. He does fine just running around town, running errands, short trips... but take him to his grandparents for the weekend and he cries bloody murder for a solid hour. Actually it's been taking over an hour because I have been stopping at EVERY EXIT to calm him down & then we start again. He's also been getting car sick, vomiting after every car trip that is longer than 10 minutes.

Today was different. Today's trip was peaceful & quiet... not a whimper or a tear shed... not a peep from my child in the back seat.

Why, do you ask??? I give all the credit to those Little Einsteins!!!

We decided to get Cade's Christmas present early, a portable DVD player, complete with his favorite, a Little Einsteins DVD... I couldn't believe it... it WORKED! He sat so still & was so good the entire trip. Even when it started getting dark this evening, he was fine. Just watched on. I am thrilled!

We also put him in his BIG car seat. It's still backwards facing but it sits him up higher, so hopefully he won't get so sick. And so far so good!

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!!

We have a TOOTH!!! :)

Not a big deal, right?!?! Well, if you live in THIS house, it is a VERY big deal!!! My poor baby has been miserable trying to cut this tooth. It's barely visible, just at the gum line right now, but you can see it and you can DEFINITELY feel it! It's his lower right front. I was hoping he'd get both bottom teeth at one time but I guess teething isn't going to come easy for our little guy.

Just wanted to share our good news!!!

Good day for a swing...

I took Cade to the park yesterday to try out the swings for the first time. He LOVED it! It was such a nice day out! (we're enjoying these warm days while we can!) And I know, the front of the swing looks disgusting but it wasn't that dirty on the inside.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

After we were done swinging, we found a tree that hadn't been mowed around yet & took some pics. Unfortunately he was more interested in eating the leaves & watching the kids play, than he was posing for the camera.

Some Must See Pics!

I love this pic from this weekend -- Cade had his bath in grandmomma's kitchen sink! How fun!
Photobucket

And some pictures from today... it was BEAUTIFUL outside today & Cade really enjoyed getting out into the warm autumn air.

Photobucket

I know this one doesn't look real but that's not a painted background, I swear!
Photobucket

Want to know how you can tell if a baby is teething???

Hands are either in the mouth or on the ears at all times!

This is my favorite... I love him!

There are more photos in my photobucket! Go take a looksie! :)

Sunday's Lesson: Babies Don't "Fall Back"

Ugh. I ALWAYS look forward to that extra hour of sleep when the time changes in the fall. Evidently no one told Cade that we "fell back" an hour. He always gets up at 6:00 a.m. So he got up at 5:00 a.m. this morning, wide away & playing.

Great.

I really thought he'd sleep for awhile longer because I also had to get up at 4:00 and give him a bottle. His sleeping schedule has already been out of whack because of his teething & growth spurt combo... Now that the time changed, it's like we've made zero progress getting back to normal.

But on a happy note, so far he has been in a great mood today... which is wonderful considering the rough ride he had home last night. I think a good nights sleep in his bed is all he needed. After he got up at 5a.m., he laid back down for a 2 hour nap from 7-9a.m.! (momma took one too!)

The floor is open for suggestions...

What do you do with a 7 month old baby who HATES riding in the car & gets car sick almost every time he has to be traveling for longer than 30 minutes???

This is a new "thing" and something that I never expected, thought of, even knew existed. A baby that hates riding in the car. I seriously think/wonder/believe (yeah, I'm confused too) that I can blame it all on the teething. He's only been getting sick & screaming bloody murder for the past few weeks... he has been teething like CRAZY for the past few weeks. I know his tummy is upset so maybe the long car rides are making him sicker? Derek suggested that maybe an altitude change is making his ears hurt worse? (seems that he cries worse when we're on our way back home -- going uphill -- my ears pop every time so I'm sure his do too) And I think he's a little scared of the dark too... it's a million times worse if we travel when it's dark out.

So the floor is open to suggestions. I'm considering a DVD player for the back seat. It might at least distract him from his upset tummy or the pain in his ears, or fear of the dark. Maybe. I will try anything at this point... because if we don't find a solution, we won't be traveling far anymore!

Oh yeah, and before you ask... still no teeth.
